The Ritual and Its Weight
The Santana Gopala Homa is the Vedic fire rite for progeny. Its heart is the Santana Gopala mantra, addressed to Krishna as the divine child — the same Gopala who crawled on Yashoda's courtyard. In the Grihastha tradition, a couple's prayer for a child is not a private wish but a household sankalpa, spoken aloud into the fire with their names, gotras and birth stars. Agni carries it. That is why the rite has been performed in Indian homes and ashrams for centuries before a hopeful pregnancy, and again during one.
paras Continue
Astrologers turn to this homa when the fifth house — the house of children — is under strain, when Putra Dosha or afflictions to Jupiter appear in a chart, or when a couple has waited long and wants their prayer placed in a formal Vedic setting. Nothing is promised. What the tradition offers is a disciplined, correctly chanted invocation of Santana Gopala on your behalf, so that your longing is spoken in the language the rite was built for.
ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं ग्लौं देवकीसुत गोविन्द वासुदेव जगत्पते । देहि मे तनयं कृष्ण त्वामहं शरणं गतः ॥ O Govinda, son of Devaki, Vasudeva, Lord of the universe — grant me a child, Krishna; I have taken refuge in you.Why Devotees Book This
Devotees across the world book the santana gopala homam for one reason above all — to place their prayer for a child before Krishna in his infant form. These are the intentions the tradition assigns to the rite.
Prayer for conception
The central sankalpa of the rite: a couple asking Santana Gopala for the blessing of a child, named and offered in the fire.
For a peaceful pregnancy
Traditionally performed during pregnancy as well, invoking protection and calm for mother and unborn child through the months of waiting.
Relief sought for fifth-house afflictions
Prescribed by astrologers where the Putra Bhava, Jupiter or the Moon are afflicted, or where Putra Dosha is indicated in the horoscope.
Blessings for existing children
Parents also book it for the wellbeing, health and good conduct of children already born into the family.
Steadying the household
The rite is a Grihastha observance. Couples describe it as bringing patience and shared purpose to a long wait, husband and wife praying as one.
Continuity of the lineage
Offered by families seeking the vamsha-vriddhi blessing — the unbroken continuation of their line, a concern named in the sankalpa itself.

The most auspicious days for a Santana Gopala Homa
The santana gopala homa is timed by Krishna's days and by nakshatras friendly to progeny.
Krishna's own birth star and tithi. Rohini days and Ashtami are the most sought muhurat for this homa, and Sri Krishna Janmashtami above all.
Days traditionally favoured for Gopala worship and for household prayers concerning children, especially in a waxing Moon fortnight.
Nakshatras associated with nourishment, growth and Vishnu's grace — chosen when the couple's own stars are weighed by the priest.
Many families book it in the middle months of pregnancy, and on Putrada Ekadashi, the Ekadashi named for the boon of children.
You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.
What you receive
The sealing of the Santana Gopala Krishna Yantra
When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.
Personal sankalpa
Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.
Live telecast
Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.
Prasadam, shipped free
Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.
Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum
48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.
A note on sacred tradition
As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.
Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.
We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

Santana Gopala Krishna
Here Krishna is worshipped as the divine infant — the butter-thief of Gokula, crawling on Yashoda's courtyard, a ball of butter in one hand and an anklet on each foot. Puranic tradition, especially the Bhagavata, dwells on this childhood: Devaki's son, raised by Nanda and Yashoda, whose play is itself the play of the universe. In the Grihastha path, householders turn to this form because it is the child-Krishna who is asked for children. The mantra printed for the rite addresses him directly as Devakisuta, Govinda, Vasudeva, Lord of the world, and asks for a son while taking refuge in him. He is held to preside over the blessing of offspring and the well-being of the family line.
In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.
