The ritual and its weight

Why the Saraswathi Homa matters

A homa is not a prayer beside a fire. It is prayer through fire.

For Saraswathi, the fire ritual carries a meaning no other deity's homa has: she is the mother of the Vedas, and the Saraswathi Sukta offered into your fire is her own Vedic hymn, returning to her. The lit flame itself is her symbol — the illumination of knowledge, the dispelling of ignorance.

And because your homa is performed individually — your name, gotra and nakshatra alone in the sankalpa — every mantra of the ritual is directed to one person: you. This is the rite families have performed at Vidyarambham and before every examination that mattered, for generations.

Why devotees book this

Benefits of the Saraswathi Homa

Saraswathi is invoked wherever knowledge, memory, speech or art is at stake — these are the situations devotees traditionally book this homa for.

Success in studies & examinations

Booked before board exams, entrance tests, admissions and results — by students and by their parents.

An auspicious start to education

Vidyarambham — when a child's formal learning begins, and at the start of any new course of study.

Clarity of speech & articulation

She is Vak, the word itself — traditionally sought for confidence and clarity in speech and public expression.

Mastery in music & the arts

The veena is hers — musicians, dancers and artists invoke her before beginning or advancing training.

Focus for research & deep work

Scholars, researchers and writers book for sustained concentration, memory and clarity in demanding work.

Before a new venture of the mind

A thesis, a first job, a book, an audition — devotees invoke her at the threshold of any work that will be judged on intellect or skill.

Sacred timing

The most auspicious days for a Saraswathi Homa

Tradition holds certain days as especially potent for this deity's worship. A homa performed on these days is considered to carry heightened merit.

Vasant Panchami

Magha Shukla Panchami — her own festival day, and the most auspicious of the year for beginning any learning.

Sharad Navratri — the Saraswathi days

Her worship falls on the final days: avahanam on Moola nakshatra, puja on Purva Ashadha, visarjan on Uttara Ashadha.

Vijayadashami

The classical day for Vidyarambham — a child's first letters, and the resumption of study after Navratri.

Moola nakshatra

Her birth star, recurring each month — the strongest monthly window for Saraswathi rituals.

Panchami tithi & Thursdays

The fifth lunar day is hers; Thursday belongs to Guru, the planet of learning and wisdom.

Akshaya Tritiya

Traditionally chosen for beginning studies, arts and any pursuit meant to grow without diminishing.

You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.

What you receive

The sealing of the Saraswathi Yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Saraswathi Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum

48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

After it arrives

How to wear your energised Saraswathi Yantra

The energised yantra is carefully rolled and sealed inside a sacred silver amulet before shipping. Wearing it is itself a small ritual.

01

Your auspicious time to wear it

Wear it for the first time on a Thursday, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.

02

At a funeral

Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.

03

Purify the amulet

Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.

04

Keep the energy intact

You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Who is invoked

Saraswathi

Saraswati is the goddess who presides over articulated speech, measured knowledge and the flowing current of creative insight. She appears as a luminous figure robed in white, seated upon a white lotus or riding the haṃsa, the swan that discriminates milk from water. In her four hands she holds the palm-leaf manuscript, the crystal akṣamālā, the vīṇā whose frets she herself has set, and either the vessel of amṛta or the abhaya-mudrā. The Ṛgveda first praises her as a mighty river; later strata of the tradition interiorize that river as the subtle stream of inspired utterance within the human heart. She is the power that turns undifferentiated awareness into phoneme, verse, melody and reasoned argument, remaining distinct from Lakṣmī who governs abundance and from Pārvatī who governs sacred power. Poets, musicians, students of the Veda and all who work with language approach her form when they seek alignment between mind and the source of coherent expression.

In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

Yes. Every homa is performed individually for you and up to five nominated family members, using your name, gotra and nakshatra. We never conduct group or samashti sankalpa.
Yes. Your homa is telecast live in real time from our Yagna Ashram and your viewing link arrives by email the day before. By default the telecast is streamed openly on our YouTube channel. If you would prefer your ceremony not to be public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and we will stream it as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.
No. The 48-day worship takes place inside the temple sanctum, where videography is prohibited by Agama tradition. The main homa is telecast live from outside the sanctum; the daily 48-day rituals are performed with full devotion but not filmed. You receive the energised Saraswathi Yantra and prasadam on completion.
After booking, you'll receive an email requesting your birth details. Our astrologers then calculate an auspicious muhurta from your chart and confirm the date within 24 to 48 working hours. Most homas take place within one to two weeks.
Wear it for the first time on a Thursday, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain. The full wearing guide is given on this page. If you prefer not to wear it, place it at your puja altar or keep it in your wallet.
Yes. Give your child's name, gotra and nakshatra at checkout and the sankalpa is made in their name. Parents often include themselves and siblings among the five family members covered.
Usually yes. Muhurta is confirmed within 24 to 48 working hours and most homas are performed within one to two weeks. Tell us your deadline at checkout and our astrologers will find the earliest auspicious window before it.
Saraswathi is invoked for knowledge itself — learning, speech, music and the arts. Medha Dakshinamoorthy is invoked specifically for medha: retention, memory and grasping power, often chosen for students facing a heavy syllabus. Devotees preparing for major examinations sometimes book both.
Yes to both, with every package and at no extra cost. The Saraswathi Yantra is consecrated over three days through Jala, Prana and Jeeva Pratishta, stands in your homa to receive the energies raised in the fire, and is then rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite before being shipped with your prasadam. Every package ends the same way, with your yantra sealed in its silver amulet. What the 48-day Anushthan adds is forty-eight days of daily pujas before that sealing, so the amulet you receive holds the energies of your homa and of those forty-eight days together.
The silver amulet measures approximately two to four inches, and the energised copper Saraswathi Yantra sealed within it is about one to two inches. The shape is always a sealed cylindrical casing as shown, but the decorative detailing varies from batch to batch, as our supplier's designs differ. Yours may differ in ornamentation from the photograph while being identical in shape, material and consecration.
Our silver amulets are specially made for everyday wear: copper is added to the silver to make them more durable. With regular use, the amulet may turn black, reddish or brown as it is exposed to heat and reacts with the chemicals in cosmetics. Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, keep perfume and cosmetics away from it, and clean it by rubbing it gently with a pinch of vibhuti (sacred ash). Every six months, polish it with cotton dipped in a silver cleaner, but never soak or dip the amulet itself. Never open it, as the energies of the yantra are sealed inside. If it is ever damaged, send it back to us, not to a jeweller.
None. The price shown is all-inclusive and covers free worldwide delivery of your prasadam and energised Saraswathi Yantra to any country.
Students before examinations and admissions, parents at the start of a child's education or Vidyarambham, artists and musicians beginning training, researchers and writers seeking clarity, and devotees seeking Saraswathi's grace for speech and articulation.
