The Ritual and Its Weight

The Sarva Roga Nivaran Homa is the fire rite the shastras prescribe when illness has settled in and will not lift. Its name says its purpose plainly: sarva roga, all afflictions; nivarana, their removal. Offerings of ghee, healing herbs and medicinal woods are given into the fire while the mantras of Dhanvantari, the divine physician, and the Mrityunjaya verses of Rudra are chanted for the person named in the sankalpa.

Vaidya tradition and Vedic ritual have always walked together. Medicine treats the body; the homa is offered for the unseen weight around the illness — the exhaustion, the fear in the household, the karmic residue the elders spoke of. Families book the sarva roga nivaran homam during a long convalescence, before a surgery, for an ageing parent, or simply as a yearly offering for the health of everyone under one roof. It is a Maha homa, longer in chanting and fuller in oblation than a daily rite.

ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय धन्वन्तरये अमृतकलशहस्ताय सर्वामयविनाशनाय त्रैलोक्यनाथाय श्रीमहाविष्णवे नमः Salutations to Lord Dhanvantari, who holds the pot of nectar, destroyer of all afflictions, lord of the three worlds — an appeal for healing and wholeness.

What a Maha Homa is

Not every fire ritual is performed at the same scale. A Maha Homa is our largest form — more priests, a longer fire, and the complete chanting sequence the rite prescribes rather than an abridged one. This is what that means in practice.

Priests5 or 10Chanting in unison, never in rotation

TelecastEvery minuteNothing is performed off camera

A Maha Homa is performed for one devotee and their named family, the same as any homa we conduct. What the scale changes is the weight of the offering — ten trained voices holding one hymn for two hours is a different undertaking from one voice for an hour, and it is reserved for the intentions that warrant it.

Why Devotees Book This

What the tradition prescribes the sarva roga nivaran homa for, in the words of those who keep it.

Support Through Recovery

Offered when someone is convalescing after illness, injury or a procedure, so the period of healing is held in prayer.

Relief Sought in Long Ailments

For conditions that have lingered for years, the rite is performed as a plea to Dhanvantari for ease and steadiness.

Vitality and Strength

Ghee, herbs and mantra are offered for ojas — the vigour the texts say a body needs to carry its work each day.

Longevity Prayers

The Mrityunjaya verses chanted within the homa are the traditional prayer for a long, unbroken and dignified life.

For a Parent or Child

You may name someone else in the sankalpa. Families most often book this for an ageing parent or an unwell child.

Peace in the Household

Illness tires everyone around the sickbed. The homa is offered for the calm and courage of the whole family.

Sacred timing

The most auspicious days for a Sarva Roga Nivaran Homa

These are the days the tradition favours for a healing homa.

Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras)

The day Dhanvantari rose from the churning ocean with the nectar pot — the foremost occasion in the year for this rite.

Ashwini Nakshatra

The star of the Ashwini Kumaras, physicians of the gods, held ideal for offerings made for health and swift recovery.

Mondays and Pradosham

Sacred to Rudra, whose Mrityunjaya mantra forms the longevity portion of the sarva roga nivaran homam.

Your Janma Nakshatra

The monthly return of your birth star is a fitting day to offer the homa for your own health and vitality.

You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.

Every package

What you receive

The Dhanvantari Yantra sealed inside the sacred silver amulet
An actual amulet received by a devotee. Your Dhanvantari Yantra is a copper plate approx. 1–2 inches, rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet approx. 2–4 inches. Sizes are approximate and the amulet's design varies between supplier batches — shape, metal and consecration remain the same.

The sealing of the Dhanvantari Yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

This is what arrives at your door, at no extra cost, with your prasadam.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Who is invoked

Dhanvantari

Rising from the churning of the ocean of milk with the vessel of amrita in his hands, the divine physician takes his place among the forms of Vishnu. The Bhagavata and Vishnu Puranas tell of his appearance; the Ayurvedic tradition names him the source of its healing knowledge. He is shown four-armed and dark as a rain cloud, holding the pot of nectar, a leech, a conch and the discus, sometimes with medicinal herbs at his feet. Vaidyas invoke him before treatment; households turn to him during long illness, before surgery, and in the care of the old. Alongside him the Mrityunjaya verses call on Rudra, the healer of the Vedas, who is asked for release from what binds the body. Together they hold what the tradition calls arogya

Questions

Frequently asked

It is a Maha-tier Vedic fire ritual whose name means the removal of all afflictions. Ghee, medicinal herbs and sacred woods are offered into the consecrated fire while the mantras of Dhanvantari, the divine physician, and the Mrityunjaya verses of Rudra are chanted for the person named in the sankalpa. The tradition prescribes it when illness has been long, when recovery is slow, or as an annual offering for the health of a family.
The rite is offered for recovery from illness, for vitality and strength, for longevity, and for relief during chronic ailments. Devotees also book it for the calm of a household worn down by a long sickness. It is a prayer, not a treatment — it accompanies medical care and never replaces it, and no outcome is promised.
Anyone recovering from illness, living with a long-standing condition, preparing for a procedure, or simply seeking steady health may have it performed. You do not have to be the unwell person yourself — you may name a parent, a child, a spouse or a friend in the sankalpa. Our priests perform the homa on that person's behalf at our Yagna Ashram.
Dhanvantari Jayanti, Ashwini nakshatra, Mondays, Pradosham and the monthly return of your janma nakshatra are all favoured. If the need is urgent, it need not wait for a festival — our priests will read your birth details and fix the nearest suitable muhurat.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and the sankalpa taken in your name, gotra and nakshatra. The kalasha is established and Dhanvantari invoked. Agni is kindled in the kunda and oblations follow — cow ghee, samidha of palasha and other prescribed woods, healing herbs, honey, sesame, rice and durva — each given with the Dhanvantari and Mrityunjaya mantras. The rite closes with purnahuti, aarti, and the charging of your Dhanvantari Yantra in the flame.
Book online from any country. Send us the name, gotra and birth star of the person the homa is for, and we will confirm the muhurat. On the day, the sankalpa is taken in that name and the ritual is telecast live to you. Prasadam and the energised Dhanvantari Yantra are couriered to your address worldwide, free of charge.
