The Ritual and Its Weight
The Bheeshana Bhairava Homam is a protective fire rite addressed to one of the eight Bhairavas — the terrible-formed guardians Shiva set at the eight directions to watch over the worlds. Bheeshana means the one whose very appearance scatters fear. Tradition places him where danger is invisible: the ill-wishing glance, the muttered spell, the heaviness that settles on a house without cause. Ghee, protective herbs and rakshoghna offerings go into the fire as the priests chant his names, and the flame is asked to draw a boundary around you.
Devotees turn to this homam when ordinary remedies feel thin — when sleep is broken, when quarrels erupt in a settled household, when a family senses that something has been directed at them. The tradition does not ask you to name the source. It asks you to place the burden in the fire and let the guardian answer. At our Yagna Ashram the rite is performed on your behalf and streamed to you live, so you witness every oblation offered in your name and gotra.
ॐ ह्रीं भीषण भैरवाय नमः Salutations to Bheeshana Bhairava, the awe-inspiring guardian form of Shiva, whose presence scatters fear and every hostile force.Benefits of the Bheeshana Bhairava Homam
What the tradition prescribes the Bheeshana Bhairava Homam for:
A shield against the evil eye
Offered when a family feels the weight of envious attention — drishti dosha — and seeks the guardian's cover over children, home and livelihood.
Relief from directed negativity
The classical remedy sought when black magic, abhichara or malefic ritual is suspected to have been aimed at a household.
Cleansing of the dwelling
Rakshoghna oblations are made to clear the atmosphere of a home, shop or workspace that has felt heavy, restless or unaccountably tense.
Steadiness of mind
Invoked by those troubled by fear at night, disturbed sleep or a persistent unease with no visible cause, seeking the courage Bhairava is said to grant.
Protection for travel and exposure
Sought by devotees who move constantly, work in unfamiliar places, or feel unguarded away from their family deity and home shrine.
Guardianship at the boundary
Bhairava is the kshetrapala, keeper of the threshold. The homam asks him to stand at the edges of your life and refuse entry to what does not belong.

The most auspicious days for a Bheeshana Bhairava Homam
Bhairava worship follows the dark and fierce hours. These are the occasions our priests favour for the bheeshana bhairava homam:
The eighth lunar day, and especially Kalashtami of the waning fortnight, is the classical day for all Bhairava rites.
The days ruled by Mangala and Surya carry protective, fierce energy and are long held suitable for guardian deities.
Stars of intensity and transformation, traditionally chosen when a protective fire rite is to be kindled.
Bhairava is worshipped in the Rahu hour, and Kala Bhairava Ashtami in Margashirsha is the most powerful annual occasion for this homam.
You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homam on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.
What you receive
The sealing of the Bheeshana Bhairava Yantra
The Bheeshana Bhairava Yantra is consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homam, receiving the energies raised in the fire. When your homam concludes, it is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which those energies are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homam performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.
Personal sankalpa
Your name, gotra & nakshatra — and up to four family members if you wish. No one else is named.

Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum
48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.
A note on sacred tradition
As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homam is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.
Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and any family members you add, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.
We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.
How to wear your energised Bheeshana Bhairava Yantra
Your auspicious time to wear it
Wear it for the first time on the day named in your dispatch email, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.
At a funeral
Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.
Purify the amulet
Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.
Keep the energy intact
You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.
How your Bheeshana Bhairava Homam is performed
Sankalpa
The priest states your name, gotra and nakshatra — and those of up to four family members — with the intention this homam is performed for.
Ganapati Puja
The customary invocation to Ganapati, clearing obstacles before the deity is approached.
Agni Pratishtha
The fire is consecrated in the homa kunda and Agni invoked as the carrier of every offering that follows.
Bheeshana Bhairava Avahana
The mula mantra of Bheeshana Bhairava is chanted, inviting the deity's presence into the fire — by one, three or five priests as your package sets.
Ahuti
Ghee and akshata, with the flowers, grains and dravyas proper to this deity, are offered in sequence with mantra. Each priest makes 108 of these offerings with the mula mantra of Bheeshana Bhairava — 108, 324 or 540 in all, by package.
Purnahuti
The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.
Aarti & Dispatch
Aarti is performed live on your telecast. Vibhuti, sandalwood powder, kumkum and your energised Bheeshana Bhairava Yantra are then packed and shipped free to your door.
Bheeshana Bhairava
Among the eight Bhairavas that Shiva sets as guardians of the directions, this form carries the aspect whose very sight scatters fear — bheeshana means terrifying. He is Shiva himself in his fierce, protective face: dark of body, eyes wide and burning, matted hair loose, trident and drum in his hands, a garland at his chest and a dog at his feet. Bhairava keeps watch at thresholds and boundaries, and the Shaiva Agamas and Puranas give the eight of them charge over the quarters of space and over the hours of the night. Devotees turn to this form when trouble has no visible face — the unspoken ill will, the disturbed household, the unease that no reasoning explains. The tradition holds him lord of what stalks unseen.
In this homam that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.
