The Ritual and Its Weight
The Lalita Sahasranama Homa takes the thousand names of Sri Lalita Tripurasundari — the hymn revealed in the Brahmanda Purana — and turns each one into an oblation. The priest speaks a name. Ghee meets the flame. Then the next name, and the next, until all thousand have passed through the fire. Chanting the Sahasranama is itself an old and beloved practice; offering it as a homa is the fuller form, where sound and fire carry the invocation together. This is why the lalita sahasranama homa is counted among the great Maha rites of the Sri Vidya tradition.
Each name is a facet of the Mother — her form, her weapons, her mercy, her seat in the Sri Chakra, her presence in the subtle body of the one who worships her. To hear them all in sequence is to be led slowly around the whole of her. Not every fire ritual is performed at the same scale. A Maha Homa is our largest form — more priests, a longer fire, and the complete chanting sequence the rite prescribes rather than an abridged one. This is what that means in practice.
A Maha Homa is never a group ceremony, the same as any homa we conduct. What the scale changes is the weight of the offering — ten trained voices holding one hymn for two hours is a different undertaking from one voice for an hour, and it is reserved for the intentions that warrant it.

The most auspicious days for a Lalita Sahasranama Homa
The Mother's rites follow the moon and the days sacred to Shakti. These are the openings the tradition favours for the lalita sahasranama homa.
The day of Shakti worship. Any Friday is fit for the Sahasranama, and Fridays in the bright fortnight are held especially fine.
The Mother's own tithi. Pournami — and above all the Chaitra full moon, Lalita Jayanti — is the classical day for this homa.
The nine nights of Devi worship, when Shakti rites carry their fullest weight. Many devotees book for a specific day of the nine.
Devotees also choose their own nakshatra day, or Lalita Panchami in Ashwina, when Lalita is worshipped by name.

How to wear your energised Lalita Tripurasundari Yantra
Your auspicious time to wear it
Wear it for the first time on a Friday, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.
At a funeral
Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.
Purify the amulet
Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.
Keep the energy intact
You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Lalita Tripurasundari Avahana
The Lalita Sahasranama is chanted, inviting the deity's presence into the fire — by five priests.
Ahuti
Ghee and akshata, with the flowers, grains and dravyas proper to this deity, are offered in sequence with mantra. Each of the 5 priests makes 1,000 of these offerings, one at every name of the Lalita Sahasranama — 5,000 in all.
Purnahuti
The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.

Lalita Tripura Sundari
The Lalitha Sahasranamam addresses Lalita Tripurasundari, the goddess of the Sri Vidya tradition, through a thousand names. It stands in the Lalitopakhyana, the Lalita narrative in the Uttara-khanda of the Brahmanda Purana, as part of a dialogue in which Hayagriva instructs the sage Agastya. The text on this page has four dhyana verses for visualising her, then 183 verses in the anushtubh metre that resolve into exactly 1,000 names. The verses move in a deliberate order. Verse 1 has her rise from the fire-pit of consciousness for the work of the gods. Verses 4 to 20 describe her from the flowers in her hair to the anklets on her feet. Verses 24 to 33 retell her war against Bhandasura. Verses 34 to 36 map her body onto the three sections of her root mantra, and verses 38 to 40 trace her rise through the chakras. The rest move between her qualities and her formless nature, ending on the name Lalitambika.
