The Ritual and Its Weight
Surya is the visible god — the one graha you can see burning overhead each morning. In your chart he governs vitality, bone and eye, the father, authority, and the confidence that lets you stand in a room and be seen. When the Sun sits weak, combust by placement, hemmed in by malefics or dimmed in debilitation, the tradition does not read this as ruin. It reads it as a lamp needing oil. The Surya Homa is that oil.
The homam works by the oldest logic in the Veda: Agni carries what you offer to the deity you name. Through measured ghee, wheat, red flowers and the Aditya mantras, the priests place your sankalpa — your name, gotra, nakshatra and intent — into the fire on your behalf. This surya homam is performed at our Yagna Ashram in Pollachi, Coimbatore District and telecast to you live. You do not travel. You sit before the screen at the appointed hour, and the fire is yours.
I bow to the Maker of Day — radiant as the hibiscus bloom, son of Kashyapa, of great splendour, enemy of darkness and destroyer of all sin.Why Devotees Book This
The tradition prescribes the surya homam where the Sun is afflicted in the chart, and where its benefic side needs strengthening. These are the intentions devotees carry into the fire.
Pacifying an afflicted Sun
Offered when the Sun is debilitated, combust in effect, or pressed by malefic aspect — the classical remedy for Surya dosha in the birth chart.
Vitality and inner fire
Surya rules ojas, the body's core warmth. Devotees invoke him for steady energy and resilience through demanding seasons of life.
Standing and authority
The Sun signifies rank, recognition and command. Sought by those facing examinations, promotions, government matters or public roles.
For the father's wellbeing
Surya is karaka of the father. Many book this homa in a parent's name, or when the father's health and fortunes weigh on the family.
Clarity and freedom from confusion
Called tamo-ari, the enemy of darkness. The rite is turned toward mental clarity, honesty of purpose and release from clouded thinking.
Strength during Sun dasha or transit
Devotees begin Surya Mahadasha, Antardasha or a difficult Sun transit with this homam, asking that the period yield its benefic side.

The most auspicious days for a Surya Homa
Surya is honoured at first light and on his own weekday.
Ravivara belongs to the Sun. The Brahma muhurta and the first hour after sunrise are the classical window for Aditya worship.
The seventh tithi of Magha shukla paksha, marking Surya's chariot turning north. The most auspicious day of the year for surya homam.
The three nakshatras ruled by Surya. Homa on these stars is held to carry the offering with particular directness.
The Sun's entry into a new rashi, especially into Makara and Mesha, is a traditional hour for graha shanti of Surya.
You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.
What you receive
The sealing of the Surya Yantra
When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.
Personal sankalpa
Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.
Live telecast
Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.
Free energised Surya Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet
Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.
Prasadam, shipped free
Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.
Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum
48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.
A note on sacred tradition
As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.
Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.
We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.
How to wear your energised Surya Yantra
The energised yantra is carefully rolled and sealed inside a sacred silver amulet before shipping. Wearing it is itself a small ritual.
Your auspicious time to wear it
Wear it for the first time on a Sunday, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.
At a funeral
Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.
Purify the amulet
Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.
Keep the energy intact
You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Surya
The Sun himself stands as deity here — the one graha the eye can see, crossing the sky in a chariot of seven horses driven by Aruna. Iconography shows him red as the japa blossom, two hands holding lotuses, seated on a lotus, crowned and radiant. Son of Kashyapa and Aditi, he is counted among the Adityas and hymned from the Rig Veda onward, where the Gayatri itself turns toward his light. In jyotisha he is king of the Navagrahas and holds vitality, the bones, the eyes, the father, and rightful authority. Devotees turn to him when strength of body or clarity of purpose feels dim, and at sunrise with arghya offered in cupped water — the oldest daily worship a household keeps.
In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.
