The Ritual and Its Weight
The Tara homa is a fire rite offered to Tara, the second of the ten Mahavidyas, whose name means both 'star' and 'she who ferries across'. In the śāstra she is the goddess of the spoken word and of the mind that stays awake — the light a traveller fixes on when the road is dark. Students, scholars and candidates facing examinations have turned to her for centuries, because her worship is prescribed for vāk (speech), medhā (retentive intellect) and dhāraṇā (the power to hold attention on one point).
In the tara homam, the priest builds the fire, seats Tara in it through her bīja mantra, and feeds each āhuti with ghee, samidha and the substances her vidhi calls for. Every offering is made in the devotee's name, gotra and nakshatra. Where study feels scattered, where a subject refuses to stay in the mind, where an examination has been attempted more than once, tradition places this homa as the remedy — an act of surrender before the goddess who carries the seeker across difficult water.

The most auspicious days for a Tara homa
Tara's worship follows her own calendar.
Her appearance day, observed in the bright fortnight of Chaitra, is the most charged day of her year. If you are looking up the tara maa puja date 2026, ask our team and we will confirm the tithi for your region.
The eighth and ninth lunar days of either fortnight are classical Mahavidya days, favoured for a full Tara homa.
Mangalavara and the new-moon night are traditionally kept for the fierce, protective forms of the Devi, including Tara.
Many families schedule the homa at the start of a study year, or in the weeks before board and entrance papers, so the sankalpa carries through the season.

A note on sacred tradition
As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.
Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link visible only to you.

How to wear your energised Tara Yantra
The energised yantra is carefully rolled and sealed inside a sacred silver amulet before shipping. Wearing it is itself a small ritual — and even its timing is set for you personally.
Your auspicious time to wear it
Our astrologer marks the auspicious date and time to wear the yantra according to your birth details — sent to you in the email carrying your shipment's tracking number.
Purify the amulet
Dip the silver amulet in raw milk or Ganga jal for an hour before wearing, then clean with normal water.
Face East or North
Perform the wearing process facing east or north for maximum benefit.
Offer dheep & dhoop
Show lamp and incense to the amulet before wearing it.
Wear it
Around your neck or waist, on a thread or chain.
Keep the energy intact
Repeated offering of dheep and dhoop keeps the energisation alive.

Sankalpa
The priest states your name, gotra and nakshatra — and those of up to five family members — with the intention this homa is performed for.
Ganapati Puja
The customary invocation to Ganapati, clearing obstacles before the deity is approached.
Agni Pratishtha
The fire is consecrated in the homa kunda and Agni invoked as the carrier of every offering that follows.
Tara Avahana
The mula mantra of Tara is chanted, inviting the deity's presence into the fire — by one, three or five priests as your package sets.
Ahuti
Ghee and akshata, with the flowers, grains and dravyas proper to this deity, are offered in sequence with mantra.
Purnahuti
The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.
Aarti & Dispatch
Aarti is performed live on your telecast. Vibhuti, sandalwood powder, kumkum and your energised Tara Yantra are then packed and shipped free to your door.
Tara
Second among the ten Mahavidyas, she stands in the fierce pratyalidha stance upon a corpse, her body deep blue like the sky before dawn, a tiger skin at her waist and serpents for ornament. Four arms hold the sword and the shears, the blue lotus and the skull bowl; matted hair carries the small figure of Akshobhya. Her name is read two ways in the tradition — the star that guides, and she who ferries a traveller across deep water. Tantric texts know her also as Nila Sarasvati and Ekajata, and in that form she governs vak, the spoken word, and the mind that stays alert. Devotees turn to this fierce mother when the road ahead is dark and speech, memory and steady attention are what the journey asks of them.
