The Ritual and Its Weight

The Kapaala Bhairava Homa is a fire rite addressed to Bhairava in his kapaala form — the guardian who holds the skull-bowl, the one who takes away what has outlived its use. Careers stall in ways that are hard to name. An application that goes unanswered. A promotion that keeps passing you. A workplace where your effort is real but the recognition is not. Tradition places such stagnation among the obstructions Bhairava is invoked to break, and the homa is the formal request to have them removed.

Bhairava is a guardian deity, and guardians are approached with exactness. The rite is not casual. Ghee, herbs and specific offerings go into a consecrated fire while his mantra is repeated the prescribed number of times, and the sankalpa carries your name, your birth star and the intention you have stated — the role you seek, the growth you are working toward. Our priests perform the kapaala bhairava homam at AstroBhava's Yagna Ashram on your behalf, and you watch the fire from wherever you are.

ॐ ह्रीं बटुकाय आपदुद्धारणाय कुरु कुरु बटुकाय ह्रीं ॐ Salutations to Bhairava, the remover of adversity — act swiftly, act now, and lift the difficulty before me.

Sacred timing

The most auspicious days for a Kapaala Bhairava Homa

Bhairava rites follow the dark hours and the days sacred to him.

Ashtami tithi

The eighth lunar day, especially Krishna Paksha Ashtami, is the classical day for Bhairava worship and a favoured slot for this homa.

Tuesday and Sunday

Both days are held sacred to Bhairava. Devotees often choose them when a career decision or interview falls in the week ahead.

Kalashtami and Bhairava Ashtami

The monthly Kalashtami and the annual Kaala Bhairava Ashtami in Margashirsha are considered especially potent for the kapaala bhairava homam.

Rahu kaala and dusk

Bhairava rites are traditionally performed in the twilight and Rahu kaala hours, when the guardian is said to keep watch.

You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.

Every package, and the 48-day option

What you receive

The sealing of the Kapaala Bhairava Yantra

The Kapaala Bhairava Yantra is consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. When your homa concludes, it is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which those energies are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — and up to four family members if you wish. No one else is named.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Kapaala Bhairava Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum

48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and any family members you add, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

After it arrives

How to wear your energised Kapaala Bhairava Yantra

01

Your auspicious time to wear it

Wear it for the first time on the day named in your dispatch email, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.

02

At a funeral

Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.

03

Purify the amulet

Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.

04

Keep the energy intact

You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Inside the fire ritual

How your Kapaala Bhairava Homa is performed

01

Sankalpa

The priest states your name, gotra and nakshatra — and those of up to four family members — with the intention this homa is performed for.

02

Ganapati Puja

The customary invocation to Ganapati, clearing obstacles before the deity is approached.

03

Agni Pratishtha

The fire is consecrated in the homa kunda and Agni invoked as the carrier of every offering that follows.

04

Kapaala Bhairava Avahana

The mula mantra of Kapaala Bhairava is chanted, inviting the deity's presence into the fire — by one, three or five priests as your package sets.

05

Ahuti

Ghee and akshata, with the flowers, grains and dravyas proper to this deity, are offered in sequence with mantra. Each priest makes 108 of these offerings with the mula mantra of Kapaala Bhairava — 108, 324 or 540 in all, by package.

06

Purnahuti

The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.

07

Aarti & Dispatch

Aarti is performed live on your telecast. Vibhuti, sandalwood powder, kumkum and your energised Kapaala Bhairava Yantra are then packed and shipped free to your door.

Who is invoked

Kapaala Bhairava

Among the eight Bhairavas who guard the directions, this fierce form of Shiva carries the kapaala, the skull-bowl, in his hand. He is shown radiant and terrible at once — matted hair, wide eyes, weapons in his upper arms, a dog often at his feet as Shiva's vahana in Bhairava form. The skull-bowl marks him as the one who receives what is finished: attachments, old roles, stalled patterns that a person still holds. Tradition treats Bhairava as kshetrapala, the guardian who stands at the threshold and decides what passes. Devotees approach him when something is blocked rather than absent — effort made, doors closed. He is asked plainly, with exactness, and honoured as a guardian rather than coaxed.

In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Our priests perform it at our Yagna Ashram, with a sankalpa naming you and your intention, and you watch it live.
Devotees turn to the Kapaala Bhairava Homa when the job search stalls, praying that the path to the right opening be cleared, and when a promotion has been long delayed, asking that recognition find its way to them. It is sought against workplace obstruction, where rivalry, office politics or unseen ill-will are felt to block progress, and for firm footing at the start of a new role or transfer. Before interviews, appraisals and negotiations it is offered for clear speech and steady nerve, and at a crossroads for discernment rather than drift. The rite is a devotional petition, made in your name.
The Kapaala Bhairava Homa is for anyone whose working life feels blocked: job seekers, people whose advancement has been long delayed, professionals dealing with workplace friction, business owners and those changing careers. Families often book it for a child entering the job market. The homa is conducted entirely by qualified priests at our Yagna Ashram, using your name, nakshatra and gotra; you need only send those details and watch the live telecast. It is one private ceremony for you and up to four members of your family, never a group rite.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachana to purify the space, then declare your sankalpa with your name, star and gotra, and the role or growth you are working toward. The kalasha is consecrated and Bhairava invoked, and the fire is kindled in the kunda with the prescribed samidha. The ahutis follow: ghee, black sesame, mustard, herbs and specific dravyas, every priest making their own offerings in the one ceremony. Purnahuti, the full oblation, aarti and prasadam close the rite. All samagri is arranged by the ashram, and you watch it all on live telecast.
You can book the Kapaala Bhairava Homa with one, three or five priests. Each package is the complete homa, with the same ritual stages and the same kinds of offerings, performed privately for you and up to four family members and never combined with another booking. What changes is the number of priests: every priest makes their own ahutis, the offerings into the fire, and all of them perform at the same time, in one ceremony. An ahuti count is a count of these offerings, not a japa count, which measures repetitions of a mantra. Each priest makes 108 ahutis: 108 in all with one priest, 324 with three and 540 with five, in approximately 1 hour. A larger package adds priests and offerings, not a second ceremony. Choose the scale that fits your intention, preference and budget; the one-priest homa is complete in itself, and no package guarantees a particular result.
Yes. Our listed Kapaala Bhairava Homa packages specify standard ahuti counts and priest numbers. If your astrologer has prescribed a different count, we can arrange a customised homa following review by our priests. Please share your requirements with our Devotee Relationship Team on +91 96295 55442. The team will confirm the ahuti count, number of priests, approximate duration and total price before you book. Your customised homa remains a private ceremony dedicated to your sankalpa, never combined with other customers' bookings.
About an hour, whichever package you choose: the priests perform together and make their offerings at the same time, so three or five priests do not lengthen the ceremony. Your muhurta, the date and time, is confirmed by email within 24–48 working hours of booking, and the live telecast link arrives the day before, so you can follow every stage wherever you are.
You do not need to wait for an auspicious day. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would prefer one of the days traditionally sacred to Kapaala Bhairava — Ashtami tithi, especially the Ashtami of the waning fortnight, a Tuesday or Sunday, the monthly Kalashtami, Kaala Bhairava Ashtami in Margashirsha, or the twilight and Rahu kaala hours — tell us in the notes at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it. If an interview or joining date is set, mention it too, and our priests will recommend a muhurta that sits well before it. Our Panchang shows the tithi and nakshatra for any date.
Yes. What directs a homa is its sankalpa: the solemn resolve the priest makes before the fire is kindled, stating who the homa is for and what it is offered for. The deity invoked and the ritual remain the same; the purpose is yours, as your astrologer has advised it. So if you have been advised the Kapaala Bhairava Homa for a reason other than those on this page, write that purpose in your own words in the “Your sankalpa” box on the birth-details page, straight after payment, and the priest will state it in the sankalpa with your name, gotra and nakshatra. If the advice also names a date, a number of ahutis or a number of priests, mention it in the notes at checkout, or call our Devotee Relationship Team on +91 96295 55442 before you book.
Book the Kapaala Bhairava Homa online on this page, from India or from any other country; devotees living abroad book it the same way, and prices are shown in your currency. Choose one, three or five priests, and straight after payment add your name, gotra if you know it and your birth star, with your prayer for the homa in the “Your sankalpa” box. Your muhurta is confirmed by email within 24–48 working hours and the live telecast link arrives the day before, so you can watch the entire homa live, wherever you are. Afterwards, prasadam and your energised Kapaala Bhairava Yantra are couriered to you anywhere in the world, free of shipping cost.
Every Kapaala Bhairava Homa package includes the energised Kapaala Bhairava Yantra: a copper plate of about 1–2 inches, consecrated over three days and present in the fire through your homa. It is then rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet of about 2–4 inches, made to be worn, and couriered to you with your prasadam, free of shipping cost; the tracking email gives your personal time to wear it. If you add the optional 48-Day Anushthan, the yantra is also worshipped daily in our consecrated sanctum for 48 days before it is sealed.
Our silver amulets are specially made for everyday wear: copper is added to the silver to make them more durable. With regular use, the amulet may turn black, reddish or brown as it is exposed to heat and reacts with the chemicals in cosmetics. Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, keep perfume and cosmetics away from it, and clean it by rubbing it gently with a pinch of vibhuti (sacred ash). Every six months, polish it with cotton dipped in a silver cleaner, but never soak or dip the amulet itself. Never open it, as the energies of the yantra are sealed inside. If it is ever damaged, send it back to us, not to a jeweller.
