Who Ucchista Ganapathi is
Ucchista Ganapathi is Ganesha as lord of the remainder. Ucchishta means what is left once food has been tasted, the very thing ordinary ritual treats as impure, and this form accepts it as his own. He is one of the thirty-two forms of Ganesha, and descriptions of his appearance do not agree: he is shown blue or red, with four arms or six, holding a veena, a pomegranate and a lotus among other things, with his shakti seated on his lap. A school devoted to him, the Ucchishta Ganapatyas, was counted among the six schools of the Ganapatya tradition. Temples to this form stand at Tirunelveli and within the Jagannath temple complex at Puri.
Why this worship stays with a teacher
His worship deliberately turns the rules of purity upside down. Where ordinary worship asks for a clean body, an empty stomach and a rinsed mouth, the texts of his school describe worship offered in the very state those rules exclude. That reversal is why the practice has always been guarded. Taken from a book, it is easily misunderstood; within a lineage it is taught as a discipline aimed at the practitioner’s own sense of clean and unclean. So the mantra is given only to a student the teacher judges ready, together with the conduct that surrounds it, and it is kept private rather than recited in company.

This mantra is given at initiation. Tradition transmits it from teacher to disciple with the practice that belongs to it, so we do not publish it in full. A teacher who has the authority to give it will give it with its method.
