The nine numbers

Numerology numbers 1 to 9 and their meaning

In Indian numerology every number from 1 to 9 belongs to one of the nine grahas, which is why a difficult number is answered with that graha’s worship.

Questions

Numerology Questions

Mulank, the birth number, is the day of the month you were born on, reduced to one digit: someone born on the 15th has mulank 6. Bhagyank, the life path or destiny number, adds every digit of the full date of birth. Mulank is read for your nature, bhagyank for the course of your life.

The name you are known by every day, spelt the way you write it. Numerology reads the name in use, so a nickname everyone calls you by can matter more than a name that appears only on a certificate.

In Chaldean numerology nine is held sacred and complete, so no letter is given the value 9. A 9 can still appear as a total once the letters are added.

When the life path adds up to 11, 22 or 33, it is kept as it is rather than reduced, because these are read as numbers of greater intensity: 11 for intuition, 22 for building, 33 for service. In daily life they are carried as 2, 4 and 6, and the calculator shows the graha of that number.

Numerology describes tendencies; it does not fix events, and a new spelling is a personal choice. Many people first strengthen the graha of a difficult number through its mantra or homa, listed with each number above, and keep the name their family gave them.
