The Ritual and Its Weight

The Gaja Lakshmi Homa is a fire offering to the fourth of the eight Lakshmis — the form of Sri seated on a lotus while two elephants bathe her with water from raised trunks. In the Vedic imagination the elephant is wealth that walks: royal treasuries, cattle, grain, land, the slow heavy abundance that does not vanish overnight. Gaja Lakshmi is invoked when what you need is not a windfall but a foundation.

Household finances rarely break in one blow. They erode — an income that arrives late, a loan that outlives its purpose, expenses that quietly outgrow earnings. The gaja lakshmi homam addresses exactly that erosion. Ghee, lotus, cooked rice and specified herbs are offered into the consecrated fire while her mantras are recited, and the sankalpa is taken in your name and nakshatra. The tradition prescribes this rite for restoring dignity and steadiness to a household's wealth, and for clearing the obstructions that keep money from settling.

Jaya jaya durgati-nāśini kāmini sarva-phala-prada śāstra-maye, ratha-gaja turaga-padāti samāvṛta parijana maṇḍita loka-nute. Hari-hara brahma supūjita sevita tāpa-nivāriṇi pāda-yute, jaya jaya he madhusūdana kāmini gajalakṣmī sadā pālaya mām. ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं गजलक्ष्म्यै नमः॥ Oṁ śrīṁ hrīṁ klīṁ gajalakṣmyai namaḥ Victory to you who destroys poverty and misfortune, giver of every fruit, attended by chariots, elephants, horses and footmen, worshipped by Hari, Hara and Brahma, remover of suffering — beloved of Madhusudana, Gaja Lakshmi, protect me always.

Why Devotees Book This

Devotees turn to the Gaja Lakshmi Homa when money comes but does not stay. These are the intentions the tradition attaches to this rite.

Steady, recurring income

Offered when earnings are irregular — for the settled monthly flow the elephants' unhurried abundance represents, rather than a single stroke of luck.

Relief from debt

Traditionally performed by households carrying loans, to seek the clarity and means to close obligations one by one and stop fresh borrowing.

Stability in the family purse

Prescribed for homes where expenses keep outrunning income, to invite order, restraint and a savings habit that holds.

Wealth that stays with the house

Gaja Lakshmi is invoked as the Sri who resides rather than visits — for grain, property and assets that remain in the family's hands.

Obstructions in earning removed

Sought when delayed payments, stalled deals or blocked dues keep interrupting the flow of legitimate income.

Dignity and standing restored

The royal form of Lakshmi is approached to renew a household's reputation, credit and confidence after a difficult financial season.

Sacred timing

The most auspicious days for a Gaja Lakshmi Homa

Our panchanga is consulted for each booking, and the sankalpa is fixed to a window suited to your nakshatra. These occasions are traditionally held to be strong for the gaja lakshmi homam.

Friday, the day of Sri

Friday belongs to Shukra and to Lakshmi. Morning Friday muhurats, especially in the Shukla paksha, are the most requested slots for this homa.

Varalakshmi Vratam and Diwali Lakshmi Puja

The Friday before the Shravana full moon, and the Amavasya of Kartika, are classic occasions to invoke Gaja Lakshmi for the coming year's prosperity.

Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras

Days named for wealth that does not diminish. Devotees book the homa on these dates before beginning a venture, purchase or new financial year.

Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Shravana and Purva Phalguni

Nakshatras associated with abundance, harvest and stability. Full moon days and Sri Sukta recitation days are also chosen.

You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.

What you receive

The sealing of the Gaja Lakshmi Yantra

When your homa concludes, the yantra that stood in the fire is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which the energies raised in a ritual are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — for you and up to five family members.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Gaja Lakshmi Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. Immediately afterwards it is rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet by Agamic rite, locking those energies within, and shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum

48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and your family, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

After it arrives

How to wear your energised Gaja Lakshmi Yantra

The energised yantra is carefully rolled and sealed inside a sacred silver amulet before shipping. Wearing it is itself a small ritual.

01

Your auspicious time to wear it

Wear it for the first time on a Friday, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.

02

At a funeral

Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.

03

Purify the amulet

Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.

04

Keep the energy intact

You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Who is invoked

Gaja Lakshmi

Seated on a full lotus, red-robed and calm, she holds lotuses in her upper hands while two white elephants stand at her shoulders and pour water over her from raised trunks. This is Sri in her royal aspect — the fourth of the Ashta Lakshmi, guardian of the wealth that stays: treasuries, cattle, grain, land, the dignity of a well-run house. The elephant in Vedic thought is abundance with weight to it, slow and loyal, not quick fortune. Her mantras address her as remover of hardship, honoured by Hari, Hara and Brahma, attended by chariots, elephants, horses and footmen. Householders turn to this form when their concern is not sudden gain but a floor beneath the family — steady earnings, honest dealings, obligations honourably met.

In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Gaja Lakshmi Homa is a Vedic fire ritual dedicated to Gaja Lakshmi, the form of Mahalakshmi seated on a lotus and bathed by two elephants. Among the eight Lakshmis she governs the wealth that endures — grain, cattle, land, royal treasuries, the abundance of a well-run household. Offerings of ghee, lotus, payasam and prescribed herbs are made into the consecrated fire alongside her mantras and the Sri Sukta. The rite is traditionally performed when a family seeks not sudden gain but a stable, dignified financial foundation.
The tradition prescribes the gaja lakshmi homam for prosperity and steady income, for relief from the burden of debt, for stability in household finances, and for the removal of obstructions that delay legitimate earnings. It is also performed to invite wealth that remains with the family — property, savings and assets — and to restore a household's standing and confidence. The rite is an act of prayer and surrender; it is offered in faith, not as a promise of any particular result.
Anyone seeking financial steadiness may have it performed on their behalf. It is commonly booked by families carrying loans, by those whose income arrives irregularly, by business owners and traders before a new financial year or venture, and by newly married couples establishing a home. Astrologers often recommend it where the second or eleventh house, or Shukra and Guru, are afflicted in the chart. You need no prior initiation — the sankalpa is taken in your name, gotra and nakshatra.
Fridays in the Shukla paksha are the most auspicious, particularly the morning hours. Varalakshmi Vratam, Diwali Lakshmi Puja, Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras and Purnima days are strongly favoured, as are the nakshatras Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Purva Phalguni and Shravana. Our priests check the panchanga against your birth details and fix the muhurat for you, then confirm the date and streaming time before the homa.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachanam, then take the sankalpa in your name and nakshatra. Kalasha sthapana and a shodashopachara puja to Gaja Lakshmi follow. Agni is invoked in the kunda, and ghee, lotus petals, bilva and durva, cooked rice and payasam, sesame, navadhanya, honey, camphor and prescribed herbal samidha are offered with her mula mantra, the Sri Sukta and Lakshmi Ashtottara. The rite closes with purnahuti, deeparadhana and prasadam. All samagri is arranged by us at our Yagna Ashram — you need bring nothing.
Book online from any country on this page. Share your name, gotra and birth star; our priests fix an auspicious muhurat and confirm the date. On the day, the homa is performed at AstroBhava's Yagna Ashram on your behalf and telecast live to you wherever you are — you do not need to travel or attend. Prasadam and an energised Gaja Lakshmi Yantra from the ritual are couriered to your address worldwide at no extra cost.
Our silver amulets are specially made for everyday wear: copper is added to the silver to make them more durable. With regular use, the amulet may turn black, reddish or brown as it is exposed to heat and reacts with the chemicals in cosmetics. Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, keep perfume and cosmetics away from it, and clean it by rubbing it gently with a pinch of vibhuti (sacred ash). Every six months, polish it with cotton dipped in a silver cleaner, but never soak or dip the amulet itself. Never open it, as the energies of the yantra are sealed inside. If it is ever damaged, send it back to us, not to a jeweller.
