The Ritual and Its Weight
The Kala Bhairava Homa is a fire rite offered to the guardian form of Shiva who holds the keys to time, direction and threshold. Where other homas ask for increase, this one asks for a boundary. The most auspicious days for a Kala Bhairava Homa
Bhairava is a deity of the eighth lunar day and the darker hours. These are the occasions our priests hold for the kala bhairava pooja.

A note on sacred tradition
As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

How to wear your energised Kala Bhairava Yantra
The energised yantra is carefully rolled and sealed inside a sacred silver amulet before shipping. Wearing it is itself a small ritual.
Your auspicious time to wear it
Wear it for the first time on the day named in your dispatch email, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.
At a funeral
Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.
Purify the amulet
Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.
Keep the energy intact
You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Kala Bhairava
Kala Bhairava is the fierce manifestation of Shiva who embodies kala, time itself, and who stands as appointed guardian of the sacred city of Varanasi. Dark-hued, adorned with crescent moon and garland of skulls, he carries trident, drum, noose and sword while his vehicle is the black dog. In Puranic and Tantric traditions he is the one who severed Brahma’s fifth head and thereafter wandered as the mendicant bearing the kapala until it fell at Kapalamochana in Kashi. As lord of the cremation ground and master of the passage of hours, Kala Bhairava is the deity to whom the city itself is said to belong; every watch of the night falls under his jurisdiction. The name joins kala, the devourer of all created things, with Bhairava, the terrifier who liberates through direct confrontation with mortality and the measure of duration.
