The Ritual and Its Weight

The Vamana Homa honours the fifth avatara of Vishnu — the small brahmachari boy who approached King Bali's sacrificial ground and asked only for three paces of earth. What looked like a modest request became a measure of the entire cosmos. That is the image the fire ritual holds: a beginning that appears small, and a reach that is not small at all.

This is why the vamana homa is turned to in matters of business. Tradition prescribes it when a venture is starting from little, when ground must be won, when a proposal has to be granted, or when growth has stalled at a boundary you cannot see. Ghee, grains and specific samidha are offered into the consecrated fire while the Vamana mantras are chanted, and the sankalpa is made in your name — your gotra, your nakshatra, your intention for the work at hand.

ॐ नमो भगवते वामनाय Salutations to the Divine Lord Vamana — the one who, in a small form, encompassed all the worlds.

Why Devotees Book This

Devotees turn to the Vamana Homa when a business needs room to grow. The tradition prescribes this rite for these intentions.

Growth from small beginnings

Offered when a new firm, shop or practice is starting with modest means and seeks steady expansion.

New openings

Sought when you are waiting on doors — a market, a licence, a territory, a first large client — to open.

Deals and negotiations

Traditionally invoked before proposals, tenders and agreements, that what is asked for may be granted with goodwill.

Breaking a plateau

Turned to when revenue, reach or scale has settled at a limit and the next measure of ground is needed.

Partnerships and expansion

Performed when adding partners, branches, product lines or a new line of trade, for harmony in the undertaking.

Steadiness in prosperity

Vamana is honoured so that what is gained is held with humility and remains stable through cycles of trade.

Sacred timing

The most auspicious days for a Vamana Homa

The vamana homa is scheduled on days sacred to Vishnu.

Vamana Jayanti

Shukla Dwadashi of Bhadrapada, the appearance day of the Vamana avatara — the most fitting day in the year for this rite.

Shravana nakshatra

Vishnu's own star. A favoured day for invoking Vamana, especially when it falls on a Wednesday or Thursday.

Ekadashi and Dwadashi

The eleventh and twelfth lunar days, sacred to Vishnu, chosen for sankalpas concerning growth and grant of a request.

Before a venture begins

On an auspicious muhurat close to a launch, a signing, a tender submission or the opening of a new premises.

You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.

Every package, and the 48-day option

What you receive

The sealing of the Vamana Yantra

The Vamana Yantra is consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. When your homa concludes, it is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which those energies are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — and up to four family members if you wish. No one else is named.

Hear yours read back, as the priest will say it →

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Free energised Vamana Yantra, sealed in a silver amulet

Shipped to you with your prasadam.

Prasadam, shipped free

Sacred vibhuti, sandalwood powder & kumkum from your fire — delivered to any country.

Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum

48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and any family members you add, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

02

At a funeral

Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.

You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Inside the fire ritual

03

Agni Pratishtha

The fire is consecrated in the homa kunda and Agni invoked as the carrier of every offering that follows.

The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.

Who is invoked

Vamana

Vamana is Vishnu’s fifth avatar, the brahmin dwarf who arrived at the sacrifice of the asura king Bali and requested three paces of land. His form is unique among the descents: neither warrior nor lover nor teacher, but a diminutive student carrying umbrella and water pot, whose body then expanded into the cosmic Trivikrama that strode across earth, sky and heaven. The Bhagavata Purana and the Vamana Purana fix him as the restorer of balance when the asuras had overrun the three worlds, yet the restoration is accomplished not by force of arms but by the humility of a mendicant’s request and the subsequent vastness of the three steps. In Kerala the same figure is remembered in the Onam cycle as the guest who both displaced and blessed Bali. Iconography shows the small brahmin before the transformation and, separately, the gigantic striding form with one foot raised to the heavens.

In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

The Vamana Homa, or Vamana Homam, is a Vedic fire ritual dedicated to Vamana, the fifth avatara of Vishnu, who came as a small brahmachari and asked King Bali for three paces of land — then measured the worlds with them. Mantras are chanted as ghee, grains and prescribed samidha are offered into the consecrated fire. Its significance for business lies in that story: a small, honest request that opens into vast ground. Devotees turn to it when a venture must grow beyond its present limits, and our priests perform it for them at our Yagna Ashram.
Tradition prescribes the Vamana Homa for growth from modest beginnings, for new openings in trade, for favour in negotiations and agreements, for movement when a business has plateaued, and for harmony when expanding into partnerships, branches or new markets. It is also performed so that prosperity, once gained, is carried with humility. The rite is an offering and a prayer, made in the order the shastra sets down.
Anyone building or running a business may have the Vamana Homa performed on their behalf — founders starting with little capital, traders seeking new markets, professionals awaiting approvals or contracts, families opening a new establishment, and those whose enterprise has stopped growing. It is also taken up by devotees of Vishnu on Vamana Jayanti. Our qualified priests perform it for you at our Yagna Ashram, and you watch it on live telecast from wherever you are.
Our priests perform the Vamana Homa at our Yagna Ashram as a single ceremony of purification, sankalpa, invocation, offering and purnahuti. They begin with achamana, purification of the space and Ganapati puja to remove obstacles, and a sankalpa is taken in your name, gotra and nakshatra, stating the purpose of the rite. Kalasha sthapana and the invocation of Vamana follow, and Agni is kindled in the kunda. Ghee, cooked havis, tila, akshata, payasam, honey, fruit and prescribed samidha are offered with mantra, every priest making their own offerings. The rite closes with purnahuti, deeparadhana and prarthana, and you watch it all on live telecast.
You can book the Vamana Homa with one, three or five priests. Each package is the complete homa, with the same ritual stages and the same kinds of offerings, performed privately for you and up to four family members and never combined with another booking. What changes is the number of priests: every priest makes their own ahutis, the offerings into the fire, and all of them perform at the same time, in one ceremony. An ahuti count is a count of these offerings, not a japa count, which measures repetitions of a mantra. Each priest makes 108 ahutis: 108 in all with one priest, 324 with three and 540 with five, in approximately 1 hour. A larger package adds priests and offerings, not a second ceremony. Choose the scale that fits your intention, preference and budget; the one-priest homa is complete in itself, and no package guarantees a particular result.
Yes. Our listed Vamana Homa packages specify standard ahuti counts and priest numbers. If your astrologer has prescribed a different count, we can arrange a customised homa following review by our priests. Please share your requirements with our Devotee Relationship Team on +91 96295 55442. The team will confirm the ahuti count, number of priests, approximate duration and total price before you book. Your customised homa remains a private ceremony dedicated to your sankalpa, never combined with other customers' bookings.
About an hour, whichever package you choose: the priests perform together and make their offerings at the same time, so three or five priests do not lengthen the ceremony. Your muhurta, the date and time, is confirmed by email within 24–48 working hours of booking, and the live telecast link arrives the day before, so you can follow every stage wherever you are.
You do not need to wait for an auspicious day. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would prefer one of the days traditionally sacred to Vamana — Vamana Jayanti, the Shukla Dwadashi of Bhadrapada, Shravana nakshatra, above all when it falls on a Wednesday or Thursday, or Ekadashi or Dwadashi — tell us in the notes at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it. If a launch, opening or signing date is set, mention it too, and our priests will recommend a muhurta that sits well before it. Our Panchang shows the tithi and nakshatra for any date.
Yes. What directs a homa is its sankalpa: the solemn resolve the priest makes before the fire is kindled, stating who the homa is for and what it is offered for. The deity invoked and the ritual remain the same; the purpose is yours, as your astrologer has advised it. So if you have been advised the Vamana Homa for a reason other than those on this page, write that purpose in your own words in the “Your sankalpa” box on the birth-details page, straight after payment, and the priest will state it in the sankalpa with your name, gotra and nakshatra. If the advice also names a date, a number of ahutis or a number of priests, mention it in the notes at checkout, or call our Devotee Relationship Team on +91 96295 55442 before you book.
Book the Vamana Homa online on this page, from India or from any other country; devotees living abroad book it the same way, and prices are shown in your currency. Choose one, three or five priests, and straight after payment add your name, gotra if you know it and your birth star, with your prayer for the homa in the “Your sankalpa” box. Your muhurta is confirmed by email within 24–48 working hours and the live telecast link arrives the day before, so you can watch the entire homa live, wherever you are. Afterwards, prasadam and your energised Vamana Yantra are couriered to you anywhere in the world, free of shipping cost.
Every Vamana Homa package includes the energised Vamana Yantra: a copper plate of about 1–2 inches, consecrated over three days and present in the fire through your homa. It is then rolled and sealed inside a silver amulet of about 2–4 inches, made to be worn, and couriered to you with your prasadam, free of shipping cost, usually reaching you in 1–2 weeks within India and 2–4 weeks internationally from the homa’s completion; the tracking email gives your personal time to wear it. If you add the optional 48-Day Anushthan, the yantra is also worshipped daily in our consecrated sanctum for 48 days before it is sealed.
Our silver amulets are specially made for everyday wear: copper is added to the silver to make them more durable. With regular use, the amulet may turn black, reddish or brown as it is exposed to heat and reacts with the chemicals in cosmetics. Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, keep perfume and cosmetics away from it, and clean it by rubbing it gently with a pinch of vibhuti (sacred ash). Every six months, polish it with cotton dipped in a silver cleaner, but never soak or dip the amulet itself. Never open it, as the energies of the yantra are sealed inside. If it is ever damaged, send it back to us, not to a jeweller.

Your ritual date is an auspicious muhurta calculated personally for you — not a slot on a rota. Once it is confirmed, rescheduling from the customer's side is not available, and cancellation does not carry a refund. If we ever have to move your ritual for unforeseen reasons at the ashram, we will inform you immediately and provide a fresh auspicious date at no cost — and your telecast, recording, prasadam and yantra remain exactly as promised.

Read the full refund and cancellation policy.
