The Ritual and Its Weight
Chandraghanta is the third form of Navadurga. She rides a lion, bears ten arms, and wears a half-moon shaped like a temple bell on her forehead. In the tradition, that bell is not ornament. It is a sound that scatters what should not be near you. The Chandraghanta Homa is the fire rite that calls this form of the Mother when a household feels watched, drained, or blocked by something it cannot name.
The homa is offered for protection — from the evil eye, from ill-wishing, from abhichara and psychic disturbance, from the heaviness that settles on a home after a period of conflict. Priests build the fire, chant her mantra, and feed the flames with the prescribed dravyas so that a boundary of sound and light is drawn around the sankalpa taken in your name. It is a rite of shelter, not of aggression: the tradition asks Chandraghanta to stand at the edge of your life and let nothing hostile cross.

The third day of Sharada and Chaitra Navaratri belongs to Chandraghanta. It is the most complete day in the year for this homa.
The eighth and ninth lunar days of the bright fortnight are traditionally held as Devi tithis, well suited to protective fire rites.
Mangalavara carries the martial protective note; Shukravara is the Mother's own day. Both are commonly chosen for Chandraghanta's homa.

The Chandraghanta Yantra is consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. When your homa concludes, it is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which those energies are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. A note on sacred tradition
As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

Your sankalpa names you and any family members you add, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.

How to wear your energised Chandraghanta Yantra
Your auspicious time to wear it
Wear it for the first time on the day named in your dispatch email, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.
At a funeral
Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.
Purify the amulet
Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.
Keep the energy intact
You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Ganapati Puja
The customary invocation to Ganapati, clearing obstacles before the deity is approached.
Agni Pratishtha
The fire is consecrated in the homa kunda and Agni invoked as the carrier of every offering that follows.
Chandraghanta Avahana
The mula mantra of Chandraghanta is chanted, inviting the deity's presence into the fire — by one, three or five priests as your package sets.
Ahuti
Ghee and akshata, with the flowers, grains and dravyas proper to this deity, are offered in sequence with mantra. Each priest makes 108 of these offerings with the mula mantra of Chandraghanta — 108, 324 or 540 in all, by package.
Purnahuti
The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.

Chandraghanta
Third among the nine forms of Durga worshipped through Navaratri, she appears golden-hued, seated on a lion, with ten arms that hold sword, mace, bow, trident, lotus and the gesture of fearlessness. A half-moon rests on her brow shaped like a temple bell, and from it her name comes. The Devi Mahatmya tradition remembers the Mother taking martial form to stand between the worlds and what threatens them; here that readiness is held in sound rather than in battle. Her face is calm even while armed. Devotees turn to this form when a home feels unsettled, watched, or heavy after conflict, for the tradition holds her to govern the boundary between a household and what presses against it, and to steady courage in those who keep that boundary.
