The Ritual and Its Weight

Garuda Homa is a protection rite. Garuda, the great eagle who carries Vishnu, is the traditional refuge against poison, sorcery and unseen malice. Where he arrives, serpents scatter. In the homa, his mantras are offered into consecrated fire with ghee, herbs and specific dravyas while your name, gotra and nakshatra are recited — so the shelter is asked for you by name, not in general.

Devotees turn to garuda homam when a household feels heavy for no reason. Sleep breaks. Work that was steady begins to unravel. A child is unsettled after a crowd. The tradition does not always name a cause; it prescribes a remedy. Garuda puja and this fire rite belong to that older, practical layer of worship — you do not argue with the darkness, you light something stronger and stand behind it.

ॐ पक्षिराजाय विद्महे स्वर्णपक्षाय धीमहि। तन्नो गरुडः प्रचोदयात्॥ We contemplate the king of birds, we meditate on him of golden wings — may that Garuda inspire and impel us.

Why Devotees Book This

The garuda homam benefits described in tradition — and the reasons devotees write to us — centre on shelter, clarity and a quieter home.

Shelter from evil eye

Garuda is invoked against drishti — the heaviness that follows envy, crowds or unwanted attention on your success, your child, your new home.

Against sorcery and occult harm

The tradition prescribes this rite where black magic, abhichara or deliberate ill-will is suspected. The mantras are offered for the removal of such influence.

Freedom from psychic disturbance

Devotees seek it for recurring nightmares, unexplained fear, a sense of being watched, or a room in the house that never feels right.

Protection for the household

Garuda pooja is offered for the whole family — children, elders, those who travel, those living far from home under your care.

Steadiness in body and mind

Garuda is the classical remover of visha, poison of every kind. Devotees offer this homa when illness lingers without clear cause, alongside their medical care.

Courage to act

Fear makes people wait. The garuda homa is asked for the nerve of the eagle — to move, to decide, to stop shrinking from what must be faced.

Sacred timing

The most auspicious days for a Garuda Homa

Any day the fire is lit with sankalpa carries weight, yet the tradition favours certain windows for Garuda worship.

Garuda Panchami

Shukla Panchami of Shravana, the day set aside for Garuda and for freedom from serpent-fear. The most sought-after date for this homa.

Saturdays and Ekadashi

Days sacred to Vishnu carry his vahana with them. Devotees favour these for garuda puja through the year.

Shravana and Punarvasu nakshatra

Stars associated with Vishnu worship are chosen when protection for the whole household is the intent.

At the onset of trouble

When drishti or occult harm is suspected, the rite is not postponed. Our panchanga team fixes the nearest clean muhurat for you.

You do not need to wait for one of these days. Whenever you book, our astrologers calculate the muhurta from your own birth chart — a date chosen for you personally, which tradition regards as more precise than a calendar date chosen for everyone. If you would like the homa on one of the days above, tell us at checkout and we will fix the muhurta within it.

What you receive

The sealing of the Garuda Yantra

The Garuda Yantra is consecrated over three days — Jala (holy-water consecration with mantras), Prana (life force through pranayama & chants) and Jeeva Pratishta (awakened with 108 recitations & offerings) — then present through your homa, receiving the energies raised in the fire. When your homa concludes, it is rolled and locked inside its silver amulet according to Agama vidhi — the practice by which those energies are held within a consecrated object rather than dispersing. It is why a homa performed at our ashram can still reach a devotee ten thousand miles away: what the fire raised travels to you, sealed.

Personal sankalpa

Your name, gotra & nakshatra — and up to four family members if you wish. No one else is named.

Live telecast

Watch your own homa in real time from the ashram. Streamed openly on our YouTube channel by default — or request an unlisted telecast at checkout.

Yantra Pujas inside our consecrated sanctum

48-Day Anushthan (optional) — daily pujas for 48 days — the 27 Nakshatras + 12 Rashis + 9 Planets — then sealed in a silver amulet of approximately 2–4 inches. Performed in our consecrated sanctum at the Yagna Ashram.

A note on sacred tradition

As per strict Agama vidhi, no videography is permitted inside the temple sanctum — this preserves the pure sacred energies and undisturbed divine focus of the ritual. The main homa is respectfully telecast live from outside the sanctum.

Homas are telecast openly on our YouTube channel so that devotees everywhere may witness the rituals — and because we believe you should be able to see our work before you trust us with yours. Your sankalpa names you and any family members you add, so if you would rather your ceremony were not public, choose the private telecast option at checkout and it is streamed as an unlisted link, which does not appear on our channel or in search, though anyone who has the link can watch it and share it.

We state this plainly — transparency about what tradition forbids filming, and about what is public, is part of performing these rituals honestly.

After it arrives

How to wear your energised Garuda Yantra

01

Your auspicious time to wear it

Wear it for the first time on a Saturday, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.

02

At a funeral

Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.

03

Purify the amulet

Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.

04

Keep the energy intact

You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Who is invoked

Garuda

Son of Kashyapa and Vinata, the great eagle serves as the mount and standard-bearer of Vishnu. Images show him with a human torso, a sharp beak, powerful wings of gold, and hands folded before his lord or grasping serpents in his talons. The Mahabharata tells of his flight to seize the amrita to free his mother from bondage, and of the enmity between him and the Nagas that follows from it. For this reason tradition holds him lord over venom, and healers have long invoked him against poison and sorcery. He is Vainateya, Suparna, Pakshiraja, king of birds. Devotees turn to him when trouble has no face and no name, trusting the swiftness of one who moves faster than harm.

In this homa that grace is invoked through fire, with your own name and birth details spoken in the sankalpa.

Questions

Frequently asked

Yes. The Garuda Purana is a Vaishnava scripture and may be kept in your puja space with the respect given to any sacred text — clean cloth, raised shelf, clean hands. The common belief that it must not enter a home arises only because portions of it are read during death rites, so families associate it with mourning. Keeping the text is not inauspicious. Note that the Garuda Purana is a book of scripture; the Garuda Homa is a separate fire ritual invoking the deity himself.
Garuda Homa is a Vedic fire ritual in which Garuda — the golden-winged king of birds and the vahana of Vishnu — is invoked through mantra and offerings of ghee, herbs and specified dravyas. Its significance lies in Garuda's role as the destroyer of poison and the fearless guardian who scatters what is hostile. The rite is traditionally prescribed as a protective measure for individuals and households facing negative energy, evil eye or occult interference.
Tradition prescribes garuda homam for protection from evil eye and drishti, for relief from suspected black magic and abhichara, for freedom from nightmares and psychic disturbance, for the safety of the family and its travellers, and for courage where fear has taken hold. Many devotees search for garuda homam benefits in telugu and other languages — the shastric intent is the same in every tongue: refuge, and the strength to stand. The rite is an offering, not a guarantee.
Anyone who feels the need for protection may sponsor it — there is no restriction of age, gender or region. It is commonly booked by those who suspect drishti or ill-will, families moving into a new home, parents worried for a child, people recovering after a long unsettled period, and those advised by an astrologer following a chart reading. You sponsor the homa; qualified priests perform it on your behalf at our Yagna Ashram.
Garuda Panchami in Shravana is the foremost day. Saturdays, Ekadashi and Vishnu-related nakshatras such as Shravana and Punarvasu are also favoured. When the need is immediate, tradition does not ask you to wait — our panchanga team selects the nearest auspicious muhurat and tells you the date and time before the fire is lit.
The priests begin with achamana, Ganapati puja and punyahavachana, then a sankalpa naming you, your gotra and your nakshatra. Garuda is invoked into the kalasha and honoured with garuda puja — shodashopachara. Agni is kindled in the kunda and the Garuda mantras are offered with ghee, samidha, black sesame, rice, dried herbs and protective dravyas prescribed for this rite. Purnahuti closes the fire, followed by rakshabandhana and mantra pushpam. The energised Garuda Yantra and prasadam are then packed for you.
Book online from any country on this page. Send your name, gotra and birth star at the time of booking. We confirm the muhurat, then telecast the homa live to you wherever you are — you do not need to travel. Afterwards, the prasadam and the energised Garuda Yantra are couriered to your address worldwide, free of charge.
Our silver amulets are specially made for everyday wear: copper is added to the silver to make them more durable. With regular use, the amulet may turn black, reddish or brown as it is exposed to heat and reacts with the chemicals in cosmetics. Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, keep perfume and cosmetics away from it, and clean it by rubbing it gently with a pinch of vibhuti (sacred ash). Every six months, polish it with cotton dipped in a silver cleaner, but never soak or dip the amulet itself. Never open it, as the energies of the yantra are sealed inside. If it is ever damaged, send it back to us, not to a jeweller.
