The Ritual and Its Weight
Naga Dosha is the mark the serpent deities leave on a horoscope. It shows in charts where Rahu and Ketu press upon the lagna, the fifth house, the seventh or the eighth — the houses that carry marriage, children and continuity. Tradition also traces it to harm done to serpents, to anthills, to sacred groves and old family shrines left untended, in this life or before it. The Naga Dosha Nivaran Homa is the fire rite prescribed to settle that debt. It is not punishment being lifted. It is a conversation reopened with deities who were forgotten.
In this sarpa dosha nivarana homa the priests raise the fire, invoke Ananta, Vasuki, Takshaka and the eight great Nagas by name, and feed the flame with milk, turmeric, sesame, ghee and darbha. Your name, gotra and birth star are spoken into every offering, so the rite is tied to your chart and not to a general intention. As a Maha homa it runs with the full sankalpa, the full count of ahutis and the Rahu-Ketu propitiation that a serpent rite requires. A Maha Homa is never a group ceremony, the same as any homa we conduct. What the scale changes is the weight of the offering — ten trained voices holding one hymn for two hours is a different undertaking from one voice for an hour, and it is reserved for the intentions that warrant it.

How to wear your energised Naga Dosha Nivaran Yantra
Your auspicious time to wear it
Wear it for the first time on the day named in your dispatch email, between 6.30 and 7.30 in the morning. Bathe first, place the yantra on your pooja altar and offer your prayers, then wear it around your neck or your waist, on a red or black thread or a silver chain.
At a funeral
Take the yantra off before you attend a funeral.
Purify the amulet
Whenever the yantra has been taken off, or if it was worn at a funeral, dip it in raw milk or Ganga jal, show it incense, dhoop or attar (perfume), and then wear it again.
Keep the energy intact
You may repeat this energising once a week or once a month.

Sankalpa

Ganapati Puja
The customary invocation to Ganapati, clearing obstacles before the deity is approached.
Agni Pratishtha
The fire is consecrated in the homa kunda and Agni invoked as the carrier of every offering that follows.
Naga Devata Avahana
The mula mantras of the Nava Nagas are chanted, inviting the deity's presence into the fire — by five or ten priests as your scale sets.
Ahuti
Ghee and akshata, with the flowers, grains and dravyas proper to this deity, are offered in sequence with mantra. Each priest makes 216 of these offerings with the mula mantras of the Nava Nagas — 1,080 or 2,160 in all, by package.
Purnahuti
The final complete offering seals the sankalpa stated at the opening.

The Nava Nagas
Serpent deities of the waters, the underworld and the earth's hidden channels, they are named in the Puranas as Ananta, Vasuki, Shesha, Padmanabha, Kambala, Shankhapala, Dhritarashtra, Takshaka and Kaliya. Ananta-Shesha bears the earth on his hoods and forms the couch of Vishnu. Vasuki serves as the rope of the churning of the ocean and as an ornament of Shiva. They are shown coiled and many-hooded, jewelled at the crown, half-human in some forms. Tradition places them as guardians of fertility, progeny, family lines and the soil itself, honoured at anthills, groves and old kula shrines with milk and turmeric. Devotees turn to them where the chart shows Rahu and Ketu weighing on marriage, children and continuity, and where forgotten serpent shrines are remembered.
