Satyanarayana is Vishnu as satya — truth — and the puja that carries his name is the one the tradition attaches to a vow. It is performed when something has been promised and the promise has come due; when a thing hoped for has arrived and thanks are owed; and at the openings of things, a house, a marriage, a business, where a household wants the beginning placed under his protection.
It is the most widely performed puja in the Vaishnava household calendar, and it is deliberately not an elaborate rite. One priest performs it, and it runs about an hour.
Like every aradhana we perform, it takes place in the open ritual space of our own Yagna Ashram, never inside a temple sanctum, and every moment of it is telecast live.

The Satyanarayana Puja takes about an hour, performed by one Vedic priest at your muhurta. It is deliberately not an elaborate rite: its force is in the vow it discharges rather than in its length. That hour holds the whole puja, from the sankalpa and the invocation of Lord Satyanarayana to the closing aarti, and your live telecast link arrives the day before, so you can watch it through.
You do not need to wait for an auspicious day. Lord Satyanarayana is Lord Vishnu worshipped as satya, truth itself. The name joins satya, truth, with Narayana, one of Vishnu's names, and in the Vaishnava tradition he is the form of Vishnu to whom vows are made and thanks returned.
